On November 10, 2025, five students from the Discovery Program for Global Learners (GDP) at Okayama University attended the 7th ASEAN-Japan Smart Cities Network High Level Meeting in Takamatsu, Kagawa, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT).

🎤 The meeting brought together government officials, urban development experts, and private-sector representatives from ASEAN member states, the ASEAN Secretariat, and Japan to explore initiatives for building inclusive, sustainable smart cities.

📌 Held annually since 2019, this year’s theme “Inclusivity” highlighted successful smart city models and the factors driving their achievements. The program featured keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and discussions on topics including disaster resilience and people-centered urban design.

🧩 As student coordinators, the GDP team joined the public-private business-matching session, bridging communication between ASEAN delegations and Japanese companies specializing in transportation, waste management, smart infrastructure, and more.
