Okayama University International Alumni Association Shanghai Chapter Meeting Held in Changzhou

On Saturday, July 5, 2025, the Okayama University International Alumni Association Shanghai Chapter Meeting and Social Gathering were held in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, China. Changzhou is located about 80 minutes from Shanghai by high-speed rail. Despite the extreme heat on the day, a total of seven participants—six alumni and one family member—attended the event.

As part of the visit, participants toured the former residence of Shi Liang (1900–1985), a renowned politician and women’s rights activist, and the former residence of Zhou Youguang (1906–2017), a linguist. They also enjoyed a stroll through Qingguo Lane, a site registered as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.

Attendees received copies of Okayama University OUTLINE 2024–2025, which provided updates on the university’s undergraduate and graduate school structure, current student and international student numbers, partnerships with Chinese universities, and the planned organizational restructuring in April 2025. Everyone shared fond memories of their time studying at Okayama University, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere.

This chapter meeting served as a valuable opportunity to reaffirm connections to the alma mater across borders and to deepen the bonds among alumni. Okayama University will continue to strengthen its global ties through its international alumni network.
