On July 1, 2022, an online seminar was held jointly by Okayama University and the Department of Economics at Nong Lam University.
The seminar began with opening remarks by both Professor Isao Kadota (Faculty of Natural Sciences, Okayama University) and Professor Tru, Dean of the Faculty of Economics, Nong Lam University. In the main session, Associate Professor Hisashi Dadai (Discovery Program for Global Learners, Okayama University) gave a lecture introducing the university’s graduate school and research topics related to Vietnam in the field of Economics. Assistant Professor Akiko Higashiguchi (Faculty of Environmental and Life Science, Okayama University: Resource Management) also introduced how one can conduct research on one’s own country or hometown, based on examples of resource management research in Japan. During the Q&A session, students asked realistic questions to the professors about how one can enter or enrol in a lab and so on.
Afterward, two of our doctoral students gave a passionate talk in Vietnamese about their study abroad experience at Okayama University. Next, Ms. Yu Tsuha (University Global Administrator, Global Engagement Office, Okayama University) explained the International Working Joint Ph.D. Program and three types of scholarships. In addition, Ms. Asami Torigoe, Coordinator for Study Abroad at Okayama University, introduced Okayama University’s project for promoting cooperation among overseas study abroad centers in Japan, and invited the audience to participate in the project’s upcoming events. The seminar concluded with warm words from Dr. Nguyen Trinh Minh Anh (Lecturer, Faculty of Economics, Nong Lam University), an alumnus of Okayama University, on the importance of having studied in Japan and his strong support for students who wish to study in Japan in the future.
